Flower arranging workshop in Ho Chi Minh City in English

By the Cáo Experiences team · 2026-11-01

We run small-group and private flower arranging sessions in Ho Chi Minh City, held in a family studio in the old quarter and coordinated by WhatsApp. Each workshop lasts 90 minutes to two hours; you'll learn to prep, strip, and arrange 3–5 pieces using fresh seasonal blooms from a local wholesaler — orchids, roses, dahlias, celosia, or what's available that week. We adapt for beginners (no prior skill needed), couples, groups, kids, and seniors; rain moves us indoors without fuss. For cost and exact dates, ask us on WhatsApp. Cáo Experiences handles all coordination; you arrive, we provide tools and flowers, and you leave with arrangements to take home or gift.

What actually happens during a two-hour session?

We start with a welcome tea or coffee in the studio — a calm, light-filled space with work tables, fresh flowers laid out, and hand tools (scissors, foam, wire, tape, vases) already placed. No lecture; we show you three stems at a time. First, we demo how to strip leaves, cut stems at an angle, and soak foam. You try it. Then we talk line (height, shape, direction) and mass (where the heavy blooms sit). We don't teach "rules" — we show what you need to hold your arrangement together and why it matters. By halfway through, everyone's arranging their first piece; we walk around, adjust, suggest. The second hour is faster: you prep and arrange a second or third piece with less guidance, choosing your own colours and vessel from what's available. We take photos at the end. Tools stay with us; your arrangements travel home in a box we provide.

Who is this workshop really for — and who should pick something else?

This session works beautifully for solo travelers or couples wanting a slow, hands-on cultural moment. It suits families with kids aged 8+; younger children can help with prep and water, but won't sit still for the whole two hours. Seniors and people with limited mobility are welcome — tables are standard height, seating is sturdy, and you can arrange sitting down. Groups of friends celebrate here; corporate team-building works if your group fits 4–8 people. If you want a photo-shoot backdrop or Instagram moment, this isn't it — we're focused on technique and the quiet pleasure of handling real flowers. If you're allergic to pollen or latex, tell us upfront via WhatsApp so we can adapt flowers or skip certain stems. If you're hoping to design corsages or wedding installations, that's a different scope; we keep it simple and personal.

How does our session differ from other workshops in the city?

We work only in English and with no fixed script. Other studios in the city often run larger groups (8–15 people) in a classroom style, with one arrangement demo and supervised repetition. We cap ours at six to keep attention high and corrections one-to-one. We use seasonal blooms from local wholesalers, which change week to week — no imported Instagram-perfection flowers — so your arrangements look alive and Vietnamese. Our studio is a working family space, not a polished venue; that means you see how flowers are stored, prepped, used daily. We also don't push you toward a single "correct" outcome; two people in the same session will finish with very different pieces, and that's the point. We're not teaching floristry as a career — we're teaching you how to enjoy flowers and understand structure. If you're choosing between workshops, ask whether they limit group size, whether flowers are seasonal and local, and whether instructors speak English one-to-one or mainly demo.

How do we handle rain, allergies, dietary needs, and kids?

Rain is not a problem. We have a covered indoor studio ready at all times; we'll WhatsApp you the morning of your session to confirm (we don't cancel unless extreme weather hits — uncommon in the city). Allergies to pollen or latex? Tell us on booking and we'll substitute flowers or skip certain prep (you can strip stems with scissors only, no handling). Kids under 8 can attend if a parent stays and helps; they'll do water-filling, colour-choosing, and simple placement, then get fidgety around 75 minutes, which is fine. Dietary needs don't apply to a flower workshop, but if your group includes a meal, we work with local kitchen partners to adapt for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, or allergy diets — just let us know beforehand. If someone has arthritis or limited hand strength, we use lighter tools and pre-cut some stems; you still do the arranging. Seniors appreciate the sitting-down pace; we've hosted people in their 70s and 80s without issue.

What should you check before you book — and what surprises guests?

Before you WhatsApp us, be clear on: are you solo, a couple, or a group? What date range suits you best? Do you want a private session (just your people) or to join a small group? Any allergies or mobility notes? We'll reply with available dates and a quote. What surprises people: flowers cost less than they think (a single wholesale orchid stem is roughly a quarter of a retail bouquet), so a two-hour session with three arrangements is good value. You don't need to dress fancy — wear something you don't mind getting damp. Foam splinters and leaf bits land on clothes; jeans and a t-shirt are perfect. Bring a small bag or box if you want to carry arrangements home immediately; we can also leave them at the studio to pick up later. The studio is in a laneway off the old quarter — quiet, residential, a few turns from main traffic — so arrive five minutes early to find the door. We'll guide you via WhatsApp photo once you're close.

Why choose Cáo Experiences for a flower workshop in Ho Chi Minh City?

We're not a commercial studio chain. We're hosts who live and work in the city, teaching skills we use ourselves. Our flower arranging workshop fits into a broader menu of craft workshops, tea experiences, Vietnamese cooking classes, and other hands-on sessions — so if you fall in love with the place, you might come back for a coffee workshop or a street food and market tour another visit. We coordinate entirely by WhatsApp; no fancy booking platform, no surprise charges, no upsell. We speak English clearly and know what confuses visitors. We adapt on the fly — if everyone's loving it, we keep going; if someone's tired, we wind down early. Our studio is real and modest; you're not paying for decor. Most of all, you're learning from people who actually arrange flowers, not just teach the steps. That matters because you'll see how choices compound: why a diagonal line reads better than vertical, why mixing textures beats all the same bloom, why fresh local flowers behave differently than supermarket ones.

FAQ

Do I need any experience to join the workshop?

No. We teach from the ground up: how to hold scissors, prep a stem, secure foam. If you've arranged flowers before, you'll refine your eye. Either way, you'll leave with finished pieces.

What happens if I can't carry my arrangements home the same day?

No problem. We'll keep them in water at the studio for up to three days. You can collect later, or we can describe care tips so they last at your hotel.

Can we book a private session just for our family or friend group?

Yes. Private sessions run for 2–4 people, 90 minutes to two hours. We use the same studio and flowers; the pace is entirely yours. Ask us for dates and a quote.

How fresh are the flowers, and where do they come from?

They arrive fresh from a local wholesale market each morning or the day before. Orchids last longest (7–10 days at home); roses, dahlias, and celosia last 3–5 days if you change water every two days.

What if I'm visiting Ho Chi Minh City but staying outside the old quarter — will this work timing-wise?

Yes. Most taxis or Grab rides take 10–20 minutes depending where you're staying. We'll send the studio address via WhatsApp once you book. Plan to arrive five minutes early to find the laneway entrance.
